| IPL/Laser Hair Reduction Imagine never having to shave, tweeze or wax your hair again! Until recently these treatments, along with electrolysis, were the only ways to remove unwanted hair. These treatments were expensive, time-consuming, painful, and yielded minimal results. But now, with remarkable advances in technology, it is safe, easy, and cost-effective to reduce unwanted body hair using lasers that will not damage the delicate pores and structures of your skin. The laser hair reduction process is simple and works on the principal of selective photothermolysis, where a carefully timed pulse of energy passes through the skin and is absorbed at the hair follicle. The energy is designed to destroy the follicle that will reduce and possibly eliminate regrowth. The hair will begin to fall out following treatment. The skin is unaffected and there is no need for pretreatment. Multiple treatments are necessary in order to get the best results. The treatment has the best result on growing (anagen) hair follicles; as the dormant (telogen) hairs begin to grow (any where from one to three months later), some new hair growth will result. The amount of treatments varies and is an individual determination. Some parts of the body, such as the face and bikini may respond fastest and areas such as the legs and arms may require more treatments. The ideal candidate for laser hair reduction is a light skinned, dark haired client. The main target in the hair is the melanin, so more energy is absorbed by the hair follicle and less by the skin. Darker and tanned skin absorbs more energy as it passes through the skin, so more treatments may be necessary for optimal results. White and gray hair cannot effectively be treated with laser because there is no pigment for the energy to focus on. Minor reddening and swelling, similar to sunburn, may result in some clients but subsides in 24 hours. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please contact us. |
